So…for the sake of a good time and some laughs, I had my two older kiddos give me a performance review today.
Basically, I asked them some modified performance review type questions about me and my job role as “Mommy”. Keep in mind that P is my almost six-year old and W is my three-year old. H, my fifteen-month old, chimed in infrequently.
Here are their answers:
Q: Am I doing a good job in my role as Mommy?
A: W – Yes.
P – Yes.
Q: What part of my job am I doing well?
A: W – Getting us some drinks. (thats it?!?)
P – Taking us to school. (thats all?!?!)
Q: What part of my job could I improve on?
A: W – Going in the pool with Daddy. (hmmm..okay! lol!)
P – Stop worrying so much. (so true)
Q: What makes a good Mommy?
A: W – Letting us go to places that are really fun.
P – Being really good to children.
Q: What should I get paid for being a Mommy?
A: W – 100 and 1000
P – 1000 and 1,000,000
Q: Who is Mommy’s boss?
A: W – Gramys (ha!)
P – No one. (good answer, kid!)
H – Daddy! (he wishes!)
Q: Should Mommy get to take breaks, and if so, for how long?
A: W – Yes, for five minutes.
P – Yes, for six minutes. (so generous of you…)
Q: What is the hardest part of my job?
A: W – Giving us a bath and a shower. (that is rough…)
P – Taking care of us kids. (on point, my girl!)
Q: What is the easiest part of my job?
A. W – Getting us drinks at a restaurant. (I wish that was the hardest part!)
P – When your kids listen.
Q: Would you swap Mommy for a new mommy?
A. W – No and yes.
P – No.
Sometimes, as parents, we worry so much about the “job” we are doing. Are the kids eating enough? Are they eating the right food? Are they learning enough? Do I let them watch too much tv? Do I spend enough time with them? What is the quality of the time I am spending with them?
But, you know what? If your child is willing to engage with you on the above questions and they answer any of those questions in a way that makes you laugh or brings a smile to your face, then you are doing everything right.
Try this at home with your kiddos tonight, or at any point when you need to kill some time! The answers may surprise you and will surely make you all laugh a little bit. And, lets be real, what parent couldn’t use a good laugh.
I may have to try this just to see their responses! Haha
Katie, you totally should!! Please share the responses if you do!! 🙂
Ha! 6 minute breaks! This was great, thanks!
Right?! I think I deserve at least ten minutes!! LOL. Thanks again for commenting!
