She Had the Best of Intentions…

She thought he was cute. She wanted to date him. She wanted him to want her. She had the best of intentions.

He thought she was hot. He wanted to get with her. He wanted her to go out with him. He may or may not have had the best of intentions.

She was only twenty years old, and he was twenty-eight; eight years her senior. Her parents did not believe he had the best of intentions.

They were both dating other people at the time but fell for one another. They had the best of intentions.

They became exclusive with one another and had the best of intentions.

She returned to college in Boston. He followed her, and they moved in together. They had the best of intentions.

They planned a beautiful wedding at Disney, with the best of intentions.

She went to law school in Miami, with the best of intentions, but dropped out.

They moved to Virginia for a new start — they had the best of intentions.

They bought a house and made a baby, with the best of intentions.

Life took a sad turn, but it brought them back to Florida and closer to family. They questioned if life had the best of intentions for them.

They added two more children, with the best of intentions.

At present, they make a lot of mistakes, but they are raising three beautiful, kind, and intelligent children, with the best of intentions.

They may be exhausted, drained, and question if life, love, and parenting should be so hard, but for twelve years they have been loving one another, with the best of intentions.

And — with the best of intentions — they will keep on keeping on, as they both understand that true love and significant relationships are meant to be a journey; one that should only be embarked on by those with the best of intentions.
