Hey, you! Yes, you! Do you hear me talking to you? You probably don’t. You are probably too wrapped up in yourself and your perceived flaws to hear anything I am saying right now. But guess what? I am going to keep talking to you anyway with the hopes that your nearby ear may hear even a small portion of what I have to say.
Each and every day, you stand on me. Yup, you stand on me — the audacity of you! Some days you even stand on me more than once. And I — well, I have put up with it because I know that’s what I’m here for. But, hear me on this…if you plan to stand on me again, the least you can do is listen to what I have to say first.
For so long, you have based your happiness on how much you weigh. Do you know what a big FAT (pun intended) mistake that is! You are ridiculous if you think that a stupid number determines your happiness. It may in fact determine your health (in some cases), but it sure as hell does not determine your self-worth. So, for Pete’s sake stop living your life obsessing over your weight!
The honest truth is that there are so many people in the world doing the exact same thing as you, and all of these people, you included, are living this one life you get, all wrong. Beauty goes beyond appearance, and true, actual beauty has absolutely nothing to do with appearance.
Listen, if you want to keep living this way that’s your choice; but in doing so you are depriving yourself and your family of experiencing total and absolute completeness — completeness just how you are — beautifully, imperfectly you.
What advice do I have for you, you ask? What do I think you could be doing differently? Okay, I will tell you:
My advice to you is this:
Don’t step on the scale every day.
In general, eat healthy, but allow for moderate and periodic indulgences.
Do some positive affirmations each day.
Get exercise.
Find and partake in a hobby that brings you a sense of serenity amidst your daily stressors.
Love your family with every inch (yep, pun intended again) of your being — because they and YOU are what matters most — not the number on the scale.
Hey…I get it — I’m just a machine with batteries. Who would listen to me? Probably no one, but everyone, including you, darn well should. And, if you decide not to, well I think I just may decide to break on you.
ERROR. ERROR. ERROR.

I like the humor added here. I am a daily stepper….but working on changing that.
Hi, Kim! Thanks so much for commenting. I, too, am working on stepping on the darn scale less…it it really just so tempting, but the break from it, well, it is so necessary! Thanks again for taking the time to read! 🙂
I loved reading this post. Lots of great reminders that we’re more than just the number on a scale.
