Dear Hero,
Yes you are one, so don’t tell me not to use that term. Heroes are not just those fighting for our freedom or those that make extraordinary public feats. They are not just community service personnel or the medical doctors saving lives. Yes, those people most definitely ARE heroes, but SO ARE YOU.
You are hero because you love my child, and all children, as if they were your own.
You are a hero because you provide love, comfort, education and support to my child when I am not there to do so.
You are a hero because you show up for my child, each and every day.
You are a hero because you foster creative expression that I have a tendency to stifle at home.
You are a hero because you inspire my child to want to learn, by making learning fun.
You are a hero because you are patient with my child, when I can be impatient.
You are a hero because you keep calm when my child is struggling, when I habitually get frustrated.
You are a hero because you bring out the best in my child.
You are a hero because you encourage my child to think for himself/herself, when at times, I only encourage him/her to think like me.
You are more than just a teacher, you are friend, a guide, a molder, an inspirer, an encourager, a supporter, a muse and ultimately, a life changer; which makes you a world changer.
You, my hero, are changing this world by helping to ensure that our children, themselves, become world changers.
THANK YOU for all that you do.
From,
An Extremely Grateful Parent
